What embroidery machine formats does Generations understand?

Generations programs works with most of the standard home and industrial embroidery machine formats. Supported formats are: EXP, DST, PCS, PES, PEC, HUS, SHV, SEW, JEF, XXX & EMD. If the format for your machine brand is not listed, we recommend the use of the DST format. This format is an industrial standard format and should be supported by most transfer methods used to send designs to home embroidery machines.

How do I get a design to my embroidery machine or open a design I already have?

Generations reserves the SAVE, SAVE AS and OPEN commands for it’s own native design format.  That means that Generations had to provide a different command (IMPORT) for the usual Open function for other home formats such as .pes, .pcs, hus, dst, and so on.
Generations also uses the EXPORT command  for the usual Save function for all the Home Formats. These commands can be found in the Generations manual.

I saved my design but my embroidery machine or software can't read it. What did I do wrong?

Generations designs are saved in the Generations format (.gen) which is great for future editing of your design.  However, you must EXPORT the design in your embroidery format for your machine or software to be able to read them.  Instructions for exporting can be found in the Generations manual.

Why does my friend have more letter fonts than I do?

The fonts are not in the Generations program.  The Generations program uses TrueType fonts that are already available on your computer. Your friend has more fonts than you do on her computer (not in Generations). You can purchase additional fonts through an office supply store.
